Questions we get

Buying or selling an airplane with Tango Alpha Aircraft Sales, in short answers.

Buying

Where is Tango Alpha Aircraft Sales?

New Smyrna Beach, Florida. The airplanes stay where their owners keep them, and each listing names the airport.

Who answers?

Thomas or Ally Dowell. No secretary, no AI receptionist. Email thomas@tangoalphaaircraft.com or use the contact form.

What is on a listing?

Times, engine and prop history, avionics, mods, damage history and photos, from the day it goes up. No "call for details."

Can I read the logbooks?

Yes. We scan the logbooks and run them through OCR, so the entries are searchable text next to the page images.

How are prices set?

Every asking price is modeled against comparable asking prices: current listings of the same model and the last asks of ones that changed hands. Damage history is stated on the listing as facts, and the price already accounts for it.

How does the sale close?

Every deal closes through AIC Title.

Where does the deposit go?

The buyer's deposit goes to AIC Title escrow, not to us. It counts toward the price.

Who pays the escrow and title fees?

Escrow and title fees are split 50/50, buyer and seller.

Who does the pre-buy inspection?

The buyer picks the mechanic and pays for the inspection. It happens at the airport named in the agreement.

When does the airplane change hands?

The airplane and its logbooks change hands once the buyer has paid in full.

Can you help get the airplane home?

If the buyer needs it flown somewhere, we help arrange it.

How do I see new airplanes first?

Get on the buyer list on the Looking to Buy page. Buyers on the list see the full listing before it hits Trade-A-Plane.

Selling

I want to sell my airplane. What do you need?

The tail number and a way to reach you. We pull the FAA record, run comps and damage history, and come back with a read on it, usually within a business day.

How do I get in touch about selling?

Use the form on the Sell page or email thomas@tangoalphaaircraft.com. Either one reaches Thomas.
